The Smoke, Tony Broadbent, Thomas Dunne/St. Martin's, $23.95.
This is a great, fun read that should appeal to absolutely anyone that enjoys a enjoys a good story. Imagine Cary Grant's
cat burglar character in
It Takes a Thief turned Cockney, just after W.W.II, and you get the idea, though nothing
in this novel is expected or predictable. To top it off Broadbent has some of the most delicious language skills I've
encountered in quite some time, as well as a very well thought out sense of character, time and place. Not to be missed.
